One of the dreams we have as part of accomplishing our 7 Next Steps is to adopt a community in Haiti where we can regularly send teams from our church. Those teams might include micro enterprise, building teams, children and adult ministry teams, agriculture education, etc. Yesterday (FRIDAY), a group of men from Otterbein went to Haiti to develop relationships with missions leaders and community leaders. The team from Otterbein included Pastor Bill, Brian Houpt, Rudy Hawbaker, Ed Schuurman, Matt Harsh, and Neil Martin. Following is an itinerary of their trip:
- Dec 7 - Travel to Fort Lauderdale
- Dec 8 - Depart for Cap Haitien, Haiti & Orientation in Haiti
- Dec 9 - Attend Haitian Church service in AM and worship with english speaking commnity in afternoon
- Dec 10 - Travel to potential village sites for adoption. Meet and strategize with missionary leaders
- Dec 11 - Travel to potential village sites
- Dec 12 - Depart Haiti and arrive home at Baltimore around 7:50 p.m.
Any future efforts in Haiti will be done in cooperation with OMS missionaries in partnership with the local church in Haiti.
Please pray for the team. Pray for God's bless and direction. Pray for them to make the right contacts and come home with a sense of what God would have for our church in the future. Pray for their families at home.
If we receive updates from the team, we will post them on the blog.
